Red Rocks: Solar Flare (Nov 4, 2012)

Solar Flare 5.10c (5 pitches)

With all our current projects completed in Red Rocks, today was an open slate. We opted for a 5-pitch route called Solar Flare at the base of Solar Slab gully (left of Johnny Vegas). While the two latter routes were busy with several parties, we had Solar Flare to ourselves all day. If you like roofs, then this is the route for you! The crux pitch and the 5.9 pitch both have formidable roofs to surmount - and both are well protected with bolts. The rest of the route is enjoyable 5.7 gear climbing. Any way you slice it, it's a blast!

Lucky for us, Bill finds and retrieves all our gear

Beware the curse of the chickenheads when rappelling in Red Rocks!

The post-climb sandwich. Yummy!
