Last week Bill and I spent a beautifully sunny day at Back of the Lake (BOTL) with our friend Claire. It was our first time at BOTL since 2010 and it sure felt different than the prickly limestone in the Bow Valley we have gotten used to. We warmed up on a sport route before heading to the Amphitheatre to hone our trad leading skills.
While I was tired from the previous day's climb, Claire was on fire and snatched three onsights that day, including: "Extra Dry" 5.9, "Imaginary Grace" 5.8 and "I Hear My Train A-Comin'" 5.10c. While all three leads were impressive, the latter stands out considerably.
Few photos are available, however we did compile a video of the 5.10c ascent, available at https://vimeo.com/reneebill/train (password is "train"). Grab a seat and enjoy the action!
