Pony Express (May 13)

Mother's Day Sunday marks my first foray up Mt. Yamnuska this summer. And what a great day! With +25C weather all day and a blue bird sky, it was beautiful t-shirt climbing weather and a perfect welcome back home.
Paul and I left the parking lot at a civilized time (10:30 am) and savoured a leisurely day on Pony Express on the West End of Yam. Pony Express proved to be the perfect route to transition back from Red Rock sandstone to Rockies limestone. It is a mixed line (gear and bolts) providing nice movement, especially on Pitches 4 and 5. Throughout the day we enjoyed chats with the two parties beside us, one on King's Chimney and the other on Unnamed, as we all progressed at nearly the same rate. A celebratory beer at the end of the day rounded out an already near-perfect summer adventure. Hurray!

(p.s. Leave your two 3.5" cams at home. I couldn't find a place for them.)
